I used this product on dark brown dye (that turned out black!) that was about 4 months old. My natural hair color is light brown. I turned up the heat and the bathroom ventilation, put my hair in a shower cap afterwards, wrapped it in a hot towel, and waited 20 mins. Rinsed out, shampooed and rinsed 15 times, rinsed with 10 volume developer, shampooed and conditioned and let it dry. No results. It didn't lighten up before or during rinsing, and it hasn't lightened up afterwards. Maybe I did something wrong, maybe the product doesn't work.Either way, my hair isn't damaged at all. The ends aren't even a little bit dry, so don't be afraid to try and see, at least it won't fry your hair! It smells like dirty old lake water. In a small, but well ventilated bathroom, the process wasn't bad at all, so again, don't be scared of that. The downside is, after washing my hair so many times, it still stinks. I don't think anyone would notice it unless they were really close to my hair, but I'm going to use a hot oil treatment (Queen Helene Jojoba) with a strong fragrance to cover it.
