I use Surya Henna products as an alternative to standard hair color, since I am highly allergic to the chemicals contained in them. I've tried many other "natural" products, but this is the best around. It is easy to apply and the color does cover any gray hair, even if it is only temporary. The one negative of this product is the fact that is oxidizes and washes out. It can stain towels, so use a dark color towel to dry your hair.

I like to use this product when I am feeling kind of lazy; there is NO mixing, and because you wash your hair first, I don't have to worry that my hair is not clean enough afterwards. After my hair is colored, I like to use a few drops of Argan Oil[[ASIN:B005GXVVH2 Watts Beauty ArganGoldTM 1oz/100% Certified Organic Cold Pressed Argan Nut Oil for Hair & Body - Morocco]that I leave in to condition my hair; my hair is kind of hard to manage without that step, as it has a wave with a mind of its own. I have short hair, so I really like that I can use a bottle 3 times or so before it's gone. The effect lasts for about a month, and I never worry about unwanted reddish overtones.
