Darker than expected

I've been using JFM products for a couple of years now. It's fast and easy. Some say it permanently stains things, but that's not true. I've overlooked splatters on floor and wall tiles, wood surfaces and countertops before. After sitting for hours, the spots still cleaned up and disappeared. Some spots cleaned up with water, others required a little squirt of cleaner...some wiped right off, others required a little bit of scrubbing.My hair is naturally medium brown in color. I tried the medium brown and it made my hair look very dark brown. I tried this one and it's ok for winter use, but still darker than the package would lead you to believe. In the Summer months, my hair gets lighter, so I'm going to try a blonde shade. It doesn't last as long as I thought it would. Normally about 2-3 weeks. I guess it depends on exposure to elements, how often you wash your hair, how long your hair is... My hair is about an inch long and I wash it daily, shampooing twice. I use a shampoo from the salon that's supposed to be designed to preserve color, but it doesn't seem to make a lot of difference.I normally use the rubber gloves, but don't put vaseline on my skin along the hairline. I used to put vaseline on my skin when I first started using the product. But, I normally tried to use most of the bottle at once, so it got everywhere. Without vaseline, I just had to scrub my skin with soap along the hairline to get the color off. Without gloves, it gets under my fingernails where it stays for a day unless I take the time to wash my hands really well.I used to treat it as if I had a lot of shampoo in my hair and I scrubbed my head with it. It splattered a lot, so I started using it in the shower. When finished, I could just rinse away all the splatter spots with the shower head. But, I use the product differently now; My hair is short and never used the whole bottle even when I tried to. Now, I mix about a third of it into a seperate bottle and apply it to a comb, then run that through my hair. I can stand in front of the mirror to be sure I cover everything and it doesn't splatter.Overall, I like the product. It works for me.

Makes me look younger

I started to gray prematurely and after doing away with my buzz cut I looked 20 years older. Girlfriend uses this on my hair and now I look my age! Hair color looks natural...not dyed! She likes the look and so do my friends. May stain headline skin after the first application but shampooing the next day takes care of that. A couple of friends have tried it and they like it very much. Hard to apply by self. Don't forget to wear the gloves.Overall a great product and much cheaper than going to a men's salon.

Much, Much darker than expected

I was a little nervous because of the negative reviews.So I chose Light Brown, even though my prior hair was dark brown (now mostly grey/black)I very quickly applied it. Starting at the temples, I applied good coverage then very quickly ran lines in a cross hatch pattern through my hair. Then brushed it front and back quickly.I waited about 2 1/2 min after that and quickly shampooed and rinsed.Looked dark all ready. Black,, no brown tint at all.Next morning, wow.. really black, I was getting nervous it would be too dark.48 hours. Black and gray. Not bad, right mix of black and gray, rather than grey and black, but no brown tint at all. I would suggest if this is your first time or if it has been a while, to do it only 2 1/2 minutes rather than the suggested 5 minutes or it will look too much of change and be very obvious. I wanted a subtle darkening, to leave it less grey, but not an obvious change. So I would suggest going 1 color lighter and half the time. Best of luck
