Sure beats my last attempt with a salon!

Just wanted to leave a rating/review for this since there aren't any.To start - I used this in conjunction with the 30 volume developer to lift/partially remove built up henna (the pure stuff, not the kind with metallic salt additives). Henna users know exactly how permanent henna is - nearly impossible to remove.A few years back I went to a high end salon - the stylist claimed she'd worked with henna before and could lift it partially - the reality was she had no clue, lied, and then fried my entire head in a one-step process which resulted in bozo-red roots, and a muddy dark length. Then she got mad at me when I was upset about the result, claiming that was exactly what I'd asked for. I've never tried a salon again for anything to do with color.I eventually chopped my hair short once my roots grew out enough, and had mostly my natural color, but caved and started henna'ing again.A few years later, enter goldwell silk lift bleach and developer. I was looking for something reputed to be gentler on the hair/skin, as I have fairly sensitive skin. I gave this a shot, and in 2 very short sessions (about 15 minutes each), I had significantly pulled the henna up (while keeping it off the grown out roots). Damage was minimal (although 1-2 inches of pre-split ends will eventually be trimmed off). I'll be using Goldwell's Elumen to tone the length next to bring my hair length to a very very close approximation of my natural color (why I kept the bleach off the roots - need a color to compare with).I'm pretty excited about the Elumen because it doesn't cause my skin to react the way most normal dyes do (which is why I started using henna in the first place). I'll probably be posting a review on Elumen dye next, once I finish toning my hair :-)All in all - I'm highly pleased with this product. It might seem like it costs a lot, but you get a lot of it for the money - and when comparing it to the cost of a hair salon (where I've never had a positive chemical treatment experience), it really is a good price :-)

Very Gentle. Works great.

I had to review this after reading the review with "good luck chuck" in it. I have very very dark hair, level 2 and even level 1 in some spots. I just used this last week and was able to get up to an 8 all over with my lighter areas being pretty much a 10. I used their 30 developer. I don't know where you get that you are supposed to leave it on for at least 40 mins. The MAX you are supposed to leave it on is 45 mins. It says that all over the the documentation and the box. Because of my color being that dark, I did do it in 2 applications simply because I was putting bright elumen colors in my hair. But you already being dark blonde, what you are saying simply doesn't jive with my experience. In the first application I was already platinum blonde on some of my lighter areas so if I wasn't doing a full head dye then it wouldn't have been necessary to repeat the process. I didn't use heat. DON'T USE HEAT WITH THIS. I didn't use a cap either. I have used a lot of bleaching products in the past, but now try to use as gentle as possible and that's why I used this and have also used davines bleach line, which wasn't nearly as good. Make sure you use their developer and I liked the added serum that you can put in. It made the smell much nicer and my hair was super soft, which I can't normally say after lifting so much.

Will level up 2 shades anymore than that, good luck chuck!

I have natural dark blonde hair (ash tone). I wanted to go to a platinum level. To get to a platinum level you have to use bleach everytime. Therefore I was looking for a better damage control bleach, so I chose this one based on the price and some good reviews. After trying this on myself, sister and aunt I can say its pretty much garbage. No one had brown hair and my sister was currently a dark blonde natural color to begin with. We all left the product on using a 30 developer and it did something funky. IT DRIED OUT within 17 minutes of application. Next time around we used plastic to cover our heads. It dried out within 25 mintues and your suppose to leave it on for at least 40 min! Not only did I get an orange color--but I even used purple toner to stop the golden orange and this product turned pink. I would reccomened that this product only be purchased for people who need to lift their hair color 2 levels, maybe 3 depending on your developer... Not for people who have light brown or dark blonde hair and going platnium. To maintain your roots, I would say it is possible with 2 applications at level 20 for a dark blonde only. Good luck!
