Magical stuff!

I am a first time henna user. I bought this color and natural red, did the suggested strand tests with each color, then ended up mixing both colors. My hair is thick, curly, to my lower back and abused from years of chemical coloring. I did in fact need 2 bags to cover my hair. I added an egg per bag as suggested by friends, to help moisturize. Left product in with for 3 hours. I did use LOTS of good conditioner when I rinsed it all out. I am still waiting for it to mellow a bit, and am excited to see the color tomorrow.The color is very close to the two colors shown. On my hair, the "wine red" seemed to have a deep purple to it, in the sun, that is why I mixed the "natural red" also.It is a very messy and time consuming job and I had a friend apply it for me (outside!)I could not have done a good job alone.I feel it is well worth every bit of effort and am so grateful for a product not full of chemicals.My hair is much softer feeling from only the first application!Yes, it smells like hay...but the smell is so much less offensive than my old chemical dyes.I just ordered 4 more bags and plan to continue to use this brand.Yay for Henna King!

As the title, I am beyond satisfied with the color. I was a little unsure until my sister looked through and found this dye (she ordered it which is why I'm not a "verified buyer"). It turned out exactly like the picture on my hair though I did choose to keep it on for three hours. One thing I did realize is that this is not a "do the same day you need it done" kind of dye because my scalp turned a bit orange but a few minutes of rubbing and it's back to white skin. The dye that my sister dropped on my shirt came out easily.We both agreed that when doing this, you'll probably need someone else to help rinse your hair (not to mention apply the paste) because I could have never gotten it done without her. The only thing we really had an issue with was that the directions state there is no set amout of water but they don't give you a estimate of what the mixure might take. It was hard to figure; "do we need a fourth a cup? one? two?" That would have been helpful but about around a cup worked. I suggest using the oil the bottom of the directions mentioned if you don't want your hair smelling like clean dirt at first then tea once you rinse the paste out.This will most definitely be what I use from now on. No more chemically fried hair!

The color bleeds for weeks! Faded far too fast.

I have been using henna (rainbow research brand - strawberry blonde) on my own hair for quite awhile and when my daughter asked to dye her own hair bright red I persuaded her to use henna because of the luck I have had with it. This brand did not seem to work very well. We left it on for 3 hours and it looked beautiful after rinsing and blow drying. She didn't wash her hair for 48 hours as suggested but the first time she did the color bled. And the following wash. For two weeks it bled, until it faded to copper - not the pretty wine red she wanted. I feel bad for her because she cannot dye over henna and is stuck with it. Maybe it pays NOT to listen to your mother. ;) We plan on trying one more time hoping a build up of color might hang on longer than a couple of weeks.
