I mix the dark brown with Burgundy Red next time I'll add less dark brown to have the color be more auburn), substitute 2 cups brewed/then boiled coffee for water, add 4 tbsp olive oil and 4 tbsp apple cider vinegar, cover hair with 3 plastic bags and leave on for 4 hours or as long/as little as you want. Rinse out with cold water first, then with warm/hot water. Shampoo/cond, I use Aubrey Organics. Over the next week rinse your hair with water only, do not use shampoo, this will make the color enhance even more day by day. Completely covers grey hair, color is very dark brown with auburn highlights. It's nearly impossible to cover all strands of hair when I do it by myself but it blends well with my natural red color and doesn't look like "flat" colored hair. It is very messy and stinky, but worth it cuz it doesn't damage your hair. I also do my eyebrows and it works great and doesn't stain my skin no matter how much I pile onto my eyebrows and skin. Wipe henna off your eyebrows with water only and as with your hair, don't use soap on your eyebrows for a week, the color will enhance on your eyebrows day by day.

Look up how to do henna before you do it. (utube) I learned to use other products with this brand. I used black coffee instead of water, I used olive oil and some gray buster(sally's)...So try some things and you will see a difference in your hair. Also sit under the dryer or leave it on all day. Wrap your hair in plastic and wear a cap...

I have used this product on my daughter's hair with a couple of different shades. The color comes out glowing. She, like me, has dark brown hair with red tones. She wanted more red. Henna is not supposed to lighten hair color but her dark brown hair came out a glowing burgundy with one color, and with the other a rich auburn which, after a summer in the sun, bleached out to an orangey-auburn.I have been perming my hair for a few years now and as much as I like the curl, I don't like how the permanent solution leaches the color from my hair, leaving me a lighter and lighter auburn. I like auburn, but my natural brunette suits me better. I have heard different reports of how, or if, a person should use henna after chemical treatments and decided I was probably pretty safe because I am between perms (about 2 months out either way).Last night I mixed 1/2 cup of the powder with about a cup of hot water. I decided NOT to add the coffee to make it darker nor the vinegar to cover gray hair. I have silver hair mixed with my brown but I am not ashamed of it, I like it. I decided I would rather see how the color turned out before adding coffee if necessary.The instructions say to leave on 50-65 minutes but I got busy and ended up leaving it on for closer to two hours. It is henna, which is actually good for your hair, so I wasn't too worried.It came out a deep dark brown. It is luscious. It borders on black in some areas (I heavily coated the last couple of inches because of the perm bleaching) but it looks great. I tried to leave some spots uncoated or lightly coated so it is a little variable. It sort of all blends together though, unless you separate the locks out like a stylist would. I was nervous about using aluminum foil with it so I didn't bother. It has a natural look to it and is actually a shade darker than my natural color - it is now the same color as my eyebrows. The color is only slightly streaky, some of my silver is scattered through it and some was dyed.Read all the instructions, mix it to a consistency you like, add the additives they suggest if you wish. Wear rubber gloves. Cover all surfaces, use old towels (and newspaper). Clean up drips and spills as soon as possible. It IS a dye, even if it is herbal, it Will stain.This is a great product. I was going to give it 4 stars because the measurement proportions are off, but that is only worth a half star at most and seems nit-picky.
